Taking care of your PEUGEOT Electric Vehicle

A fully electric vehicle is likely to have lower service, maintenance and repair costs than a traditional petrol or diesel vehicle.

Electric motors contain fewer than 20 moving parts meaning they are inherently reliable. Overall, battery electric vehicles have thousands fewer mechanical working parts than the equivalent internal combustion engine vehicle – so there are far less parts that need attention.  It is, however, still essential that these are checked periodically to ensure optimum reliability, performance and safety.

100% of an electric vehicle’s propulsion is provided by the drive motor and  battery meaning that there is no need for regular engine oil and filter changes. It is important that the other systems in the vehicle are still checked for wear and any items, such as pollen filters, replaced when required.

Regenerative braking will not only increase range but also reduce wear on brake pads and discs extending their life. Wear and tear items such as tyres, brakes, wipers and bulbs will still need replacing as the vehicle ages. Suspension components may also need replacing throughout a vehicle’s life dependent on use and mileage.

In order to keep your PEUGEOT electric vehicle in optimum condition it is recommended that you visit us either every 2 years or every 16,000 miles, dependent on which comes first, in line with the recommended service schedule.

It’s particularly important that no interventions are carried out on any part of the high voltage system, except by an appropriately trained technician with the correct safety equipment and tooling.

What kind of regular maintenance can I expect?

Suspension components may also need replacing throughout a vehicle's life dependent on use and mileage.

An electric vehicle requires coolant to ensure that its battery stays in its optimum operating range, so this will need changing periodically to aid longevity and range.
